Our Story
Off Grid Solar Works is a division of Antara Ltd., a Nevada LLC with a rich history in technology development dating back to the 1990s. Initially, Antara focused on international project development, partnering with a company in Malaysia. However, in 2010, the company pivoted to concentrate exclusively on solar energy.
During the early years of the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA), Antara played a key role in the start-up manufacturing of ARRA-compliant solar panels, utilizing offshore components. The company also ventured into the emerging field of U.S.-based lithium battery manufacturing for the off-grid market, which ultimately led to its specialization in off-grid solutions.
Over the past fifteen years, Antara has designed hundreds of off-grid systems, utilizing a wide variety of inverters, panels, and batteries. The company has also provided extensive technical support for the repair and maintenance of existing off-grid systems.
Throughout this time, Antara developed proprietary software to support off-grid projects. This software has evolved into a sophisticated planning tool, incorporating insights from hundreds of real-life installations. Branded as the Off Grid System Estimator—or simply, “the Estimator”—this tool generates detailed charts, graphs, and summary reports that simplify the process of balancing system components, adjusting for seasonal appliance loads, and accommodating customer lifestyle preferences. All of this is backed by location-specific data from NREL PV Watts software.
In addition to the Estimator, Antara developed the PowerCenter to simplify off-grid system installation for both professional installers and DIY enthusiasts. Manufactured in the USA using a high-tech process, the PowerCenter features cold-rolled steel framing commonly used in commercial building construction for galvanized steel protection of more than 50 years.
The PowerCenter can be ordered with all necessary solar equipment and a balance of system components professionally pre-installed, accompanied by engineering drawings, inspections, and more. Now a DIY enthusiast can also have a professional installation.[Learn more about the PowerCenter.]The Estimator is now free to use (visit the Welcome page). Use it to plan your off-grid system and select the right solution that meets your needs.
